About
Pickn and Kickn

Country music artist Ava Paige grew up on a stage, singing and performing since she was small. With her career in the fast lane, Paige was delivered a blow right before her 15th birthday; she had Cancer. Co-writing and shows turned into hospital stays and Chemotherapy treatments. Paige was told her treatment would be 2.5 years and had to stay a month and ½ straight in the hospital. Throughout her Journey, however, she stayed positive and was determined to “Kick Cancer’s Butt!” She said the support team around her helped keep her head up and voice singing. Throughout her treatment, friends and family would stop by and bring gifts to help the time pass a little quicker. “There were little things that just helped. It’s an experience that no one wants to go through, but my support team just made the bad situation a little bit better.” In December 2021, Paige finished her treatment and was determined to pay it forward. She started “Picking and Kicking Cancer with Ava Paige” to pay back some of the kindness she was shown. “They helped me so much, and I want to show that love to others.” Paige hopes to supply local hospitals with teen care packages full of items that help treatment be a little bit better. “You learn to bring things with you that help pass the time or make you more comfortable. I brought my own towels and sheets from home so I could make the hospital a little less “sterile” feeling.” She also hopes to target teens with Cancer. “Teens often fall through the cracks when it comes to charities. Most programs target toddlers to kids and teens can be left out.” Paige hopes her baskets will help teens by supplying them with the essentials for staying in the hospital and helping make their treatment a little bit better. “I hope to make the life of teens fighting cancer better, one basket at a time.”
